Description
This piece had the honor of being selected and displayed as part of the 2011 MAI (Mosaic Arts International) show in Austin, Texas for 6 plus weeks. The MAI is an annual Mosaic show held in conjunction with the annual SAMA (Society of American Mosaic Artists) conference.
The custom barn wood frame, the mosaic wood dock, the scavenged nautical rope, and the rusted cleat and lure, all accent the 3 dimensional albacore. The top fin on an albacore is actually like a pocket door, and would not be “open” like this in real life. However, I find them to be so stunning – the shiny black rubbery top and the bright underbelly – I knew I had to mosaic one. The fin is edged with copper tape and the head and tail are not in the frame, leaving the image somewhat abstract.
It weighs 15 lbs, so can still be hung easily from the heavy wire attached to the back. It shipped to Texas from Oregon, and back, safely, so I know my packaging will get it to you in one piece – so to speak!
Albacore Tuna on Dock is 22.5″ H x 18.25″ w x 4.75″ d
(shipping with insurance added is included at full price)
I would consider shipping out of the US but can’t guesstimate costs without knowing where. Message me if you are interested and live outside of the US. If the price is similar to US shipping, I will include it in the sale price.
